As family members were ( or had already ) leaving , Rachel & I got into Ursula without the “Silver Dollah” in tow , and headed up “going to the sun road “ trying to beat the construction waits and other tourist . We did “good” as it only took 1 hr and 10 min. , and we had heard horror stories from others trying to get up to Logan Pass. Nice visit on the top of 7000’ before heading down - see pictures . Once at the bottom , we were able to latch up “Silver Dollah” and get out of the campsite before 1100 check out time . Moved over the Glacier Campgounds outside of the park and on Rte 2 - this was a couple of driveways away from where Dave , Vickie, and Callie were staying. Afternoon spent setting / cleaning up and in the evening the 5 of us went down the road to a great restaurant - that Rachel & I would visit 2 more times because of their salads & beer selection !
7/10/10 Saturday , the “adults “ now that the children and grandchildren had left , 5 of us got into a “rental car “ and Brother Dave drove us up a “dirt/gravel” road that was meant for “TRUCKS - 4 WHEELER “ !!! We were headed for the Canadian border - actually Kintla Lake and a trail alongside. Backseat persons voted to cut the trip short by 14 miles , and we settled on Bowman Lake and the trail alongside . Good 4 mile hike in and out and no bears spotted . Dave and Vickie went swimming in the 40 F glacier water while the rest of us beat off the flies !!! Trip home was over a “smoother dirt “ road out of Pole bridge . Enough said about that trip !
We had originally made reservations at the campsite for 3 nights, but a great location and people , another 2 nights were added, before getting back on the road .
